The CHASING L1 Ultra Is the Pool Cleaner That Actually Knows Where It’s Going

The CHASING L1 Ultra is something genuinely different. Launched in November 2025 at the Piscine Global trade show in Barcelona, it’s the world’s first pool cleaner to combine 360° LiDAR mapping with AI Vision - two technologies borrowed wholesale from the world of autonomous vehicles and professional robotics, dropped into a cordless pool cleaner that anyone can use.

CHASING INNOVATION TECH has spent ten years building underwater drones and deep-sea ROV systems used across more than 100 countries. The L1 Ultra is what you get when that level of engineering ambition gets pointed at a swimming pool.

It Maps Your Pool Before It Cleans It

The moment the L1 Ultra enters the water, its LiDAR sensor starts spinning. It’s building a real-time, millimetre-precision digital model of your entire pool - every curve, every corner, every step and slope. By the time it starts cleaning, it already knows exactly where it is, where it’s been, ans where it still needs to go.

That model then drives an optimised S-shaped navigation path - calculated for your specific pool shape, not a generic template. The result is 95% pool coverage in a single clean, minimal overlap between passes, and no blind spots. A 30m² pool done in 30 minutes. For context, that’s the kind of coverage efficiency that most robots only claim in ideal rectangular-pool conditions. The L1 Ultra delivers it in freedom pools, L-shapes, irregular designs - anything.

The AI Vision Layer: It Can See What’s Cleaning

LiDAR handles navigation and spatial awareness. The AI camera handles something different - it looks at the pool surface and identifies what’s there. Leaves, fine sand, debris, algae patches - the AI adjusts cleaning behaviour based on what it’s actually encountering rather than running a fixed programme regardless of conditions. This isn’t a marketing buzzword; it’s the difference between a cleaner that sweeps everything the same way and one that puts effort where effort is needed.

The built-in altimeter adds another layer of awareness. It detects depth changes in real time - shallow edges, steps, the transition between the shallow and deep end - and responds accordingly. At a shallow edge where grounding is a risk, it reverses gently before that happens. On walls in deeper zones, it climbs. It navigates pool geometry the way a competent human would, not the way a machine that doesn’t know it’s in a pool does.

Suction and Cleaning Performance

The L1 Ultra’s dual-pump system delivers 504 litres per minute of suction - powerful enough to clean pool floors, walls, and the waterline in a single session without the robot having to slow down to compensate for difficult surfaces. The waterline is often the hardest area for robotic cleaners to manage consistently, requiring stable wall climbing and sustained contact to break up the greasy ring that builds up at the water surface. The L1 Ultra handles it as part of its standard cleaning cycle rather than a separate mode you have to remember to activate.

Safety Built from the Sea Up

CHASING’s background in deep-sea ROV engineering isn’t just a good brand story - it shows up directly in how the L1 Ultra is built. The battery system uses multi-layer marine-grade waterproof sealing with an intelligent Battery Management System that monitors charge, discharge, current, short-circuit risk, and temperature continuously. It automatically powers down if it detects water ingress. These are the kinds of protections you design when failure means losing a £50,000 ROV at 300 metres depth. Translated to a pool cleaner, they’re serious overkill - in exactly the right way.

Schedule It and Walk Away

Via the CHASING app, you can schedule the L1 Ultra up to two weeks in advance. Set your preferred cleaning days and times. And it handles the rest - no reminders, no manual intervention, no dragging a robot out of the shed on a Sunday morning. For pool owners who want a clean pool without thinking about it, this is genuinely the closest thing currently available to a fully automated solution.
